iPod Sync Failed..
As i was auto-syncing my ipod today with the itunes music library, a error was thrown which goes something like ”Attempting to copy to the disk <iPod name> failed. The disk could not be read from or written to”
I googled through to find the solution. Actually i did find some interesting solutions. Instead of putting the usual ones, i would simply mention the link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1207
There are few other discussions in some forums too like http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=490472
The issue usually can be caused by (sorted by probablity):
- Damaged Files
- FIles not located correctly
- External Softwares
- External hard disks problem
However when nothing solved the issue for me, a solution suddenly hit me. The culprit was Winamp.
The thing is if you have winamp version 5.5 n above installed on your system, it interferes with iTunes working with iPod. These versions of Winamp provide iPod Sync Support thus locking the iPod disk for write.
The problem can be solved by disabling the iPod songs from Winamp Preferences. If that does not seem to work, uninstall Winamp and try again.
Let me know if you do have faced some similar issue with different solution.
